Looking stylish is not the easiest task when it’s super cold outside. I mean, you can throw on some random clothes and just get out of the house, but if you actually want to look good… or meet some people, or go to an event, this probably won’t be a wise move.
So I have some small tips that help me look presentable, even when temperatures go waaay below zero degrees Celsius. Nothing groundbreaking, just some useful advice if you ran out of ideas or inspiration.
1. Turtlenecks are awesome
You already know this, because you’ve seen every single fashion blogger out there praising the power of the turtleneck. But I have to agree: turtlenecks can save you. They keep you warm, look stylish and just made a great comeback in the last season, so they probably won’t go out of style soon. Just make sure it’s well fitted for your body type.
2. Your hair will look great under a scarf
This is a win-win situation if you have medium to long hair: you will look stylish, but the hair will also keep you warm if it’s tucked under your scarf (or even under the turtleneck, if it has a bigger collar).
3. Listen to your mom’s advice
Ha ha, this is a funny one. Remember the winters when you were at school, and your mom always reminded you to wear a hat, gloves, neck cloth, thick fluffy socks and so on? These things can really make a difference in how you feel, so you will be able to – wait for it – not freeze to death.
I know I’m not wearing a hat here, but I AM wearing everything else (gloves, socks, scarf). Pick some simple basic colors and designs, and they will work with almost anything you have in your wardrobe.
4. Use make-up as your best ally
If you are happy with your make-up, you’ll definitely want to wear something nice to complement the whole look. And if not, at least you will be able to pull off that baggy blouse with jeans, and no one will know that you actually didn’t plan to look stylish. Effortless chic, as they say.
5. Small details matter
Oh well, this outfit is kind of basic if you think about it. No color involved, just grey and black, no jewelry, nothing too dramatic or out of common. However, there are some small details that make it look stylish, even though you don’t notice them at first.
The fringes from the scarf match the fringes from the boots; the coat is long enough to keep you warm, but short enough to show off the skinny black trousers; and the bag gives that much needed splash of color.
So this is one of the many ways you can look stylish, but stay warm in the same time. Hitting the jackpot, are we?

These are great pieces of advice. We are traveling to Norway & Germany in a couple of weeks and it’s going to BE SO COLD in comparison to what I’m used to (we live in Arizona so it’s a hot desert most of the time haha) so this will definitely be a shock to my system. I will listen to all of your tips! xx adaatude.com
This sounds amazing, have fun in your trip! And I’m happy that you found my tips helpful 🙂
I’d probably enjoy living in Arizona, I loooove hot weather! Kisses

Great to hear this, Stephanie! I wasn’t a big fan of turtlenecks either in the past few years, but now I started to see them in a different way 🙂 Kisses
